EDEXCEL Level 2 NVQ in Sport and Play Surfaces
Qualification summary
This purpose of the qualification is to evidence the learning of those working in the sports and play surfaces industry. It is designed for those working in the sports surfaces installation and maintenance industry at an operational level. Key areas of responsibilities of operatives include preparing and clearing sites, providing ground and substructure conditions and checking and maintaining surfaces and equipment.
Local authorities throughout the UK maintain sports and play installations. Schools and colleges have sports installations, which need regular maintenance. Many private companies are employed to undertake repair and maintenance of sports and play facilities.

The Level 2 NVQ in Sports and Play Surfaces will provide transferable skills and knowledge for future progression into education and employment.
Candidates can progress onto one of the Edexcel Level 3 BTEC Nationals in Sport (Award/Certificate/Diploma), the Level 3 NVQ in Sports Development and the Level 3 NVQ in Leisure Management.

All assessment is work-based. Edexcel issues general guidance to centres that recommends holistic assessment as an holistic and integrated approach to assessment.
All assessed work is subject to internal verification procedures, whereby assessed evidence is sampled on an ongoing basis by appointed and qualified individuals in the centre. External Verification takes place on a regular basis and assessor and internal verification decisions are sampled.
Candidates must complete all mandatory units in group A plus either three units from option block A or three units from option block B
