Qualification summary

Ascentis ESOL International (Anglia) qualifications are designed for non-native speakers that wish to improve their English language skills through internationally recognised qualifications.

The Level 3 Certificate is also known as the Ascetnis (Anglia) Level 3 Certificate in English. It is aimed at learners of a near native level of proficiency that wish to demonstrate that they can understand and responded to explicit and implied meaning a broad variety of familiar and unfamiliar contexts and settings and that they can express clearly, appropriately and accurately in both written and spoken communication.

This qualification is aligned to the European Common Framework and is equivalent to C2.

Achievement at Level 3 enables learners to progress on to English language qualifications at Level 4.

Ascetnis ESOL International (Anglia) at Level 3 is aligned to C2 on the Common European Framework. This level is above minimum English language requirements for entry on to higher education courses in the UK and as such achievement of this qualification would allow the learner to progress on to a British degree course.

This qualification would also equip learners with the language skills required to use English as part of their job role as well as for travel, social and everday purposes.

Listening, Reading and Writing are assessed through a combination of multiple choice/short answer questions and extended pieces of writing. These are independently marked by external markers.

Speaking is assessed through the completion of externally set tasks. This tasks take the form of discussions on a topic that is pre-determined and published on the Ascentis ESOL International website approximately 1 month prior to the assessment date. Speaking is assessed internally within the centre. The performance of all candidates is recorded and then subject to external moderation.
Candidates must achieve the two Group A mandatory units (Listening and Reading & Writing) for certification. Candidates can also choose to take the Group B Speaking unit but this is optional.
  • A  -  Group A
    To achieve a certificate, candidates must submit work covering both mandatory elements of Listening and Reading & Writing.
  • B  -  Group B
    The Speaking component is optional and certification can be achieved without it.
