Qualification summary

Edexcel has the vision to equip young people and adults with the skills to obtain employment and build confidence so that they retain jobs and improve life chances for themselves and their families. At every stage of their lives, people need work-related skills. The units in the WorkSkills award will build on skills already taught in schools and colleges, recognising them with a formal qualification. The Edexcel Level 1 BTEC Certificate in WorkSkills qualification encompasses the workplace skills, vocational skills and "soft" skills that research indicates employers seek in potential employees.

Learners can progress to the EDEXCEL Level 2 BTEC Certificate in WorkSkills. They could also progress to employment in a sector of their choosing.

In order to achieve this qualification, the learner may only select units from the Edexcel WorkSkills suite of units. Units from other Awarding Bodies may not be included in the WorkSkills qualification.

In order to gain the Edexcel Level 1 BTEC Certificate in WorkSkills, a learner must successfully achieve a minimum of 13 credits.
  • 1  -  All WorkSkills Units
    All WorkSkills Units from across Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2
    Credit Value required: Minimum 13, Maximum 13.
    • A  -  Level 1 Units
      These are the WorkSkills units available at Level 1. In the interests of flexibility for learners, there are no mandatory or optional units within the WorkSkills Certificate. Learners are free to adopt a "pick and mix "approach of unit choices providing they select units that will satisfy the number of credits required to achieve the qualification.
      Credit Value required: Minimum 8, Maximum 13.
    • B  -  Units from WorkSkills Entry Level 3 and Level 2
      Learners undertaking a Level 1 qualification in WorkSkills may take units from the Entry Level 3 and Level 2 WorkSkills suite, providing 60% of credits are gained at Level 1 or above.
      Credit Value required: Maximum 5.
