City & Guilds Level 1 Award in Introduction to Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (QCF)
Qualification summary
The purpose of this qualification is to introduce learners to basic Vehicle Maintenance and Repair operations. Vehicles could be from a range of different types. Examples include: light vehicle, heavy vehicle, motor cycle, caravan and trailer, quad bike, fork-lift and passenger service vehicle. Learners will understand the importance of ensuring that equipment and vehicle systems operate correctly to specification.
The qualification has a practical focus and learners will perform basic removal, replacement, maintenance routines and fault-finding tasks which require the use of hand tools, measuring equipment, product information and reporting documentation.
This qualification, alongside the others within the Level 1 Principal Learning in Engineering, has been designed to allow learners the opportunity to develop a range of Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS), and to demonstrate these on more than one occasion. This approach will allow them to build towards a full range of PLTS.
