Qualification summary

The qualification has been developed from a pilot programme delivered across London in preparation for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It aims to raise the profile of volunteering amongst those not currently in employment, using volunteering as a means of improving skills, knowledge and experience and creating routes to employment.

The balance of units in the qualification has been designed to support learner progression to work and/or further learning such as NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Volunteering, ASDAN Level 2 Certificate in Community Volunteering, 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Event and Match Day Stewarding and EDEXCEL Level 2 BTEC Award in Event Support. The development of personal learning skills is embedded in units that provide opportunity for work experience and employability skills.
