Qualification summary
This specification in Applied Art and Design encourages students to develop broad skills, knowledge and understanding used in teh art and design sector. The term 'vocational' is used to characterise learning approaches and activities that are work related- in other words reflecting the current working practices, constraints and preoccupations of professionals in the art and design sector. The personal work and materials presented in a candidate's protfolio need to demonstrate this vocationality. In addition, the protfolio is the basis for progression to higher education.

Units 6, 7 and 11 are externally assessed using an externally set assignment. This assignment is marked internally and externally moderated by Edexcel.
The remaining units are internally assessed and externally moderated by Edexcel.
To achieve this qualification learners must complete all seven mandatory units, plus one optional unit from group B and one unit from group C.
