EDEXCEL Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Performing Arts (QCF)
Qualification summary
The Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Performing Arts with Acting, Dance, Physical Theatre and Musical Theatre pathways are designed as successors to the current Edexcel Level 3 BTEC Nationals of the same titles. The revisions to the BTEC Nationals in Performing Arts allow for the opportunity to update the units and revise the content where appropriate.
Further information will be added to each of the units in terms of an Outline Learning Plan and also in relation to the delivery and assessment strategies. More detailed information in each of these sections will allow tutors to offer a more informed approach to the implementation of the individual units and therefore also to the complete qualification, whether it is the Level 3 BTEC Certificate, Subsidiary Diploma, Award,Diploma and Extended Diploma.
The vocational context of the qualification is provided through the core units and additional optional units. The vocational nature of the qualification is underlined through links to the relevant Sector Skills Council (Creative and Cultural Skills).

The Level 3 BTEC in Performing Arts qualifications offer progression opportunities in and to employment within the Performing Arts Sector. The qualification will also provide opportunities for progression to BTEC Higher Nationals, and other HE qualifications.

The Edexcel Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Performing Arts consists of 1 mandatory unit (the endorsed titles consist of 2 mandatory units) plus optional units that provide for a combined total of 60 credits and 360 guided learning hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

This structure allows the flexibility to import standard BTEC units (QCF) at Levels 2, 3, or 4 to meet local needs. This is limited to a total of 10 credits and can not be at the expense of the mandatory and mandatory specialist units in this qualification.
