EDEXCEL Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Performing Arts (QCF)
Qualification summary
The Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Performing Arts with Acting, Dance, Performance and Production pathways is designed as a successor to the current Edexcel Level 2 BTEC First qualifications of the same titles.
The revisions to the Level 2 BTECs in Performing Arts allow for the opportunity to update the units and revise the content where appropriate. Further information will be added to each of the units in terms of an Outline Learning Plan and also in relation to the delivery and assessment guidance. More detailed information in each of these sections will allow tutors to offer a more informed approach to the implementation of individual units and therefore also to the complete qualification, whether it is a Level 2 BTEC Diploma, Extended Certificate or Certificate.
The vocational context of the qualification is provided through the core units and additional optional units. The vocational nature of the qualification is underlined through links to the relevant Sector Skills Council (Creative and Cultural Skills).

The Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Performing Arts offers progression opportunities in and to employment within the Performing Arts sector. The qualification will also provide opportunities for progression to Level 3 BTEC qualifications, GCE, and other FE qualifications.

The Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Performing Arts consists of 4 mandatory units plus optional units that provide for a combined total of 60 credits and 360 guided learning hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.
This structure allows the flexibility to import standard BTEC units (QCF) at Levels 1, 2 or 3 to meet local needs. This is limited to a total of 10 credits and can not be at the expense of the mandatory and mandatory specialist units in this qualification.
