Qualification summary

The EDEXCEL BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Music is designed as the successor to the current Edexcel Level 2 BTEC First qualification of the same title.
The revisions to the BTEC Diploma in Music allow for the opportunity to update the units and revise the content where appropriate. Further information will be added to each of the units in terms of an Outline Learning Plan and also in relation to the delivery and assessment guidance. More detailed information in each of these sections will allow tutors to offer a more informed approach to the implementation of individual units and therefore also to the complete qualification.
The vocational context of the qualification is provided through the core units and additional optional units. The vocational nature of the qualification is underlined through links to the relevant Sector Skills Council (Creative and Cultural Skills).
Opportunities for developing Functional Skills have been signposted in units.

The EDEXCEL BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Music is a 60-credit and 360 guided learning hour (GLH) qualification that consists of three mandatory units, plus optional units that provide for a combined total of 60 credits.

This structure allows the flexibility to import standard BTEC units (QCF) at Levels 1, 2 or 3 to meet local needs. This is limited to a total of 10 credits and can not be at the expense of the mandatory units in this qualification.
