EDEXCEL BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Music Technology (QCF)
Qualification summary
The Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Music Technology is designed as the successor to the current Edexcel Level 3 BTEC National Certificate in Music Technology. The revisions to the BTEC Nationals in Music Technology allow for the opportunity to update the units and revise the content where appropriate.
Further information will be added to each of the units in terms of an Outline Learning Plan and also in relation to the delivery and assessment strategies. More detailed information in each of these sections will allow tutors to offer a more informed approach to the implementation of the individual units and therefore also to the complete qualification, whether it is the BTEC Level 3 Certificate, Subsidiary Diploma, Diploma or Extended Diploma. The vocational context of the qualification is provided through the core units and additional optional units.
The vocational nature of the qualification is underlined through links to the relevant Sector Skills Council (Creative and Cultural Skills).

The Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Music Technology qualification offer progression opportunities in and to employment within the Music sector. The qualification will also provide opportunities for progression to BTEC Higher Nationals and other HE qualifications.

The Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Music Technology consists of four mandatory units, plus optional units that provide for a combined total of 120 credits and 720 guided learning hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.
This structure allows the flexibility to import standard BTEC units (QCF) at Levels 2, 3 or 4 to meet local needs. This is limited to a total of 30 credits and can not be at the expense of the mandatory and mandatory specialist units in this qualification.
