Ideas and Concepts in Art and Design
Unit summary
This unit aims to broaden and deepen learners’ understanding of what constitutes creative thinking across contemporary and historical art and design in order to inform their own practice. They will investigate contextual sources to explore and analyse the creative ideas of different practitioners. Through this process the learner will analyse the ideas and concepts employed by artists for different purposes. This will involve studying their use of language, semantics, direct observation, perceptual sensitivity and practitioners’ visual and other influences.
