Design for Moving Parts
Unit summary
In this unit learners will be taught how to evaluate examples of items and products that use motion and moving parts. In analysing these learners will identify and list the different components that are used to transmit various types of motion. They will use this knowledge to design and produce an item or product that incorporates moving parts. This will involve them in constructing mechanisms such as gearings and considering how these will function. They will be asked to design to a set brief. This may involve a functional focus, or equally could be based on the production of a piece of Kinetic art.
