Extending Specialist Textile Techniques
Unit summary
In this unit learners will be taught how to consider and understand a design brief. They will identify the constraints in the brief, in terms of user needs and intended purpose. They will also learn how to research sources and starting points from which to develop design ideas. Learners will select and use materials and techniques that they consider to be suitable to the brief, and will evaluate their choices through tests, trials and the production of samples. In this unit learners can develop ideas from study in other units, particularly Unit 71: Exploring Specialist Textiles Techniques.
