BCU AB Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Paddlesport

Qualification summary

Currently, no other awarding bodies offer coaching qualifications in paddle sports. We can state with confidence that our proposed paddle sport qualification at Level 1 meets the needs which are not currently met by any other accredited award at that level. No other provision addresses the sport-specific and technical requirements of coaching to the depth to which the proposed Level 1 qualifications does. We also believe that the qualifications will make a distinctive contribution to national provision not only because of their uniqueness but also in terms of their quality, breadth and coherence.

The BCU Coaching Pathway is made up of five levels. These levels reflect the experience and expertise of the coach. Level 1 provides an entry level to the pathway. Opportunities for continuied professional development and furhter training at each of the higher levels provides the further necessary learning candidates need to progress experience and qualifications and to further their potential and opportunities for employment.

The assessment of the BCU AB level 1 Certificate in Paddlesport Coaching is assessed via six assessment tasks
• A Safety and Group Management Assessment – 1 hr
• A Practical Coaching Delivery Assessment - 30 minute session
(a ‘real’ environment and group situation)
• Skills assessment – 30 minute
• Workbook Evaluation
• MCQ’s – 30 min
• Viva – 15 min
The BCU Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Paddlesport is a 4-unit qualification of which all are core units.
