The aim of this qualification is to recognise the skills, knowledge and competence required of an individual to work as an unsupervised Mat Pilates Instructor (plan and progress, instruct, manage and evaluate a safe and effective Mat Pilates session).

This qualification is recognised as an approved qualification for entry on to the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) as a Level 3 Instructor. This qualification also underpins much of the knowledge required for the completion of the Level 3 NVQ in Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise in the context of Pilates.

Progression may also include entry onto other CYQ certificates or employment in the fitness, leisure and recreation industry as a Mat Pilates Instructor.

Independent assessment:
Unit 1 - Advanced Exercise and Fitness Knowledge (multiple choice theory paper externally set and marked by CYQ).

Centres are encouraged to use independent assessors for the internally assessed units 2, 3 & 4 (criteria marking schemes provided by CYQ).
All units are mandatory.
