Qualification summary

This qualification is aimed at the learner who wants to pursue a career in the health and fitness industry as a fitness instructor in the context of Gym, Exercise to Music, Health Related Exercise for Children and Water Based Activities.

This qualification includes the common units put together by SkillsActive, the Sector Skills Council.
This ensures that the content of the qualification is consistent with the standards required to undertake this role.

This qualification allows entry on to the Register of Exercise Professionals at Level 2.

This qualification currently offers entry on to the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) at level 2 and is a prerequisite qualification to gain access to other CYQ qualifications at level 2, 3 and 4.

Entry on to the Register shows potential employers a learner's commitment to their career and education.

Candidates must achieve:

Gym-Based Exercise pathway: 14 credits from mandatory units plus 10 credits from
relevant optional units

Exercise to Music pathway: 14 credits from mandatory units plus 10 credits from relevant
optional units

Water-Based Exercise pathway: 14 credits from mandatory units plus 11 credits from
relevant optional units

Exercise and Physical Activity for Children pathway: 14 credits from mandatory units plus 9 credits relevant from optional units
