ECITB Level 3 Award in Personal Site Safety Responsibilities
Qualification summary
The Engineering Construction Industry (ECI) designs, builds and looks after all types of buildings. From process plants for oil and gas industries, to steel manufacturing and pharmaceutical factories. The main basis of the industry is process plant and equipment. Around 50,000 people work in the ECI in the UK and about 30,000 work overseas.
The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) focuses on developing skills of people who work on site, such as craftspeople and supervisors as well as office based staff such as designers and managers.
ECITB organise, run and supervise a wide range of training programmes to help all levels of staff from apprentices to professionals as well as being the Awarding Body for the Industry.
The Client Contractor National Safety Group (CCNSG) is the representative body for all matters relating to site safety in the ECI. The CCNSG has devised a Site Safety Passport, which requires successful attendance on a two-day course by all site operatives before being able to work on site. Additionally, there is a scheme in the ECI to have a recognised skill competency card called ‘Assuring Competence in Engineering Construction’ (ACE). The card can be applied for after achievement of an ECITB N/SVQ.
The purpose of C04: Understanding Personal Site Safety is to enable another route to the safety passport and to be combined with the achievement of an NVQ. The aim is to validate knowledge and awareness of health and safety on-site through an industry recognised qualification.
