This qualification provides learners with the ability to work towards ‘Associate’ or ‘Full’ teacher status in England. Successful completion of this qualification confers a threshold licence to teach which is a mandatory requirement for all new teachers in the sector.

This qualification can be a discrete award or form part of a larger qualification. Learners can progress by undertaking further units in order to gain a Level 3 or 4 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector. Further to this they could progress to the Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
