TCL Level 5 Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL)

Qualification summary

Trinity’s Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL) is designed for the trainee with little or no experience of teaching English in the contemporary ESOL classroom but with a high level of competence in spoken and written English, whether English is the first, second or a foreign language for the trainee. It equips him or her with the most basic skills and knowledge needed to take up a post as a TESOL teacher and give him or her a firm foundation for self-evaluation and further professional development. Teachers holding a Trinity College London CertTESOL qualification can assure prospective employers of their sound initial training in preparation for classroom teaching.

This submission seeks the reaccreditation of the CertTESOL qualification at Level 5 of the National Qualifications Framework to bring it into line with developments in the Lifelong Learning sector – see statement of support from LLUK.
